Hi All,

I was just curious as to the type of contract cafe owners out there have with their roasters.
1) Do you buy beans direct from a roaster or through a distributer?
2) Do you make your supplier decisions based on quality, or are you after the whole macine,grinder,promo deal as well?
3) Are you involved with the blend/taste profile decisions or do you buy what you are offered?
4) Would you consider buying top quality beans if you did not recieve a free machine/free on loan/payment scheme/etc...
5) Would you prefer to buy a brand or have something private labeled(i.e. exclusive to your cafe)?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated,

Hey all Regarding Jasons question on contracts with roasters, if cafe owners are interested in having the est product out there, its very important to choose a product of quality. In the three years of running our cafe we have been approached by many coffee suppliers who are willing to give us a machine but the quality of coffee isnt to my standards. As coffee is our main selling point, we were happy to purchase a machine and source a good coffee. Obviously now that we have been with our roaster for a while they are happy to give us a machine. Basically it comes down to finding a good machine first then the rest follows.                               Regards JoJo
