After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Gaggia Classic and Grinder
I have a Gaggia Classic and a Gaggia Grinder and was wondering if anyone else out there has one so I can ask some stuff....
1) When I switch from espresso to steam once the pressure has built up (when the red light comes on) my steam wand seems to always let out a little steam even though it's still quite securely off. Also, even when in standby mode it seems to seep a little water and steam. I always release any remaining pressure when switching back to standby. Is this normal? Does it need a service? How do you do a clean on these things... like a descale?
2) I also have the 'Cafe' style grinder where you can grind the coffee and dispense a measured dose into the group mandle. There's about 40 grind settings on this thing. I usually find that I use settings between 6 and 8 depending on the coffee - anything greater than this just makes it too fine - why do they make such a large number of grind settings? Also - anyone have any tips, tricks or suggestions on using the grinder?
