steaming probs with krups espresso machine

I've had a krups 989 espresso machine for a few years and the streamers' become very unreliable lately. It will sometimes perform normally, but more often than not it won't have enough pressure to heat the milk. I've cleaned/descaled it twice as per the user manual, but it's had no real effect.

I've also looked in the yellow pages/sensis/google for info on fixing the problem but with no luck. Anyone got any advice or know where (in Sydney) I can get the machine serviced.......?

As these machines are most often sold through department stores, you need to contact one of them and ask for a list of "local" repair agents. Goodluck, FC.

StB, I had a little Novo? Krups which also had variable steaming capabilities. We found that if the milk was steamed first the machine took too long to cool back down for the espresso. Steaming last took too long to heat up - to the point where we had to top up the waiting espresso with boiling water... It did worse over time. So, once it was out of warranty which ditched it and got a Giotto...

you use a mixture of caustic soda/water to flush the machine/steamer.you're supposed to do it every three months or so, but we've had ours for years so maybe there's a build up of crap in there. I might take the thing apart and give it a good soak.
