new sunbeam machine

Hey all, has anyone heard anything about sunbeam's new machine? All i know is that it's a dual thermoblock, dual pump (like a HX of the thermoblock world), it's $599, and it was meant to come out in the first week of december, according to the email i got from sunbeam.

it's now the second week of december (yeah, i'm impatient)... does anyone have any more info???

Dear Espresso friend, Our new twin thermoblock machine is definately coming.  Part of our new Cafe Series range of commercial designed appliances.  It is called the Cafe Series Twin Thermoblock Espresso Machine (EM6900).  It has got it all.  TPTT System (twin thermoblock twin pump) stainless lined.  Commercial spec group head and handle, full stainless steel design, (back) pressure gauge for optimum extraction, semi-auto function with flow meter - programmable, 5 year guarantee on pumps etc.  What's more we have worked with Paul Bassett (WBC) to perfect all the finer elements.  Still life testing the pre-production samples, availability likely to be late Feb 05. As far as we are aware it is the first of its kind, and the key advantage of the TPTT system is that you can pull a shot of espresso and steam milk at the same time - simultaneous operation just like commercial machines. Hello Matt, Damian. Matt, I would be careful that your enthusiasm doesn't blind. A domestic twin thermoblock / twin pump machine bears absolutely no relationship to a heat exchanger / commercial machine in either design, or performance. The concept has been around before, it constitutes two independent domestic thermoblock machines inside one body. This is why you can get steam and coffee at the same time, because the two internal machines operate independently of each other....simply like having 2 separate domestic machines sitting next to eachother on the bench. Damian, it will be interesting to see the final production model. All this talk of commercial this and that will certainly get many householders thinking that that's what they're getting and you'll make a few sales but ultimately, it will have to stand on its own two feet in terms of good domestic espresso brewing and steam production because "commercial", it certainly will not be. It will however be good to see if any of the features described will help householders chase the perfect brew and if they do, the job will have been well done. A "back pressure" gauge sounds crazy at first however...it's a good idea if you think about it. The stainless steel lined thermoblock is a great idea. 5 years warranty on water pumps I'm afraid is nothing much as the water pumps are one of the most resilient parts of a domestic espresso machine...except when run out of water by Miss Management! An espresso machine water pump, is a pump, is a pump, is a pump, despite all the 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, bars pressure (my pump's more powerful than your pump) furphy. And  "semi auto function with flow meter and programmable"....the more unnecessarily complicated the machine, the more unnecessary trouble you get. Are you going to have some kind of a launch where interested parties can have a play and a look? Cheers, FC.
