percentage of profits to donate

Hi, I am seeking information on what percentage of profit is the "right" amount to offer  those seeking the service of a mobile coffee cart.  At present I am supplying coffee for a sporting association to whom I have been paying a percentage of my profits .  Now they want to charge me a $200 site fee which will blow my profits away.  Is there an "industry" standard amount?

I dont know what the specific answer to your question is but hope you wont mind me making the following obervations. Dont know how open minded (to discusison) or "fair" minded these people are but it's a 2 way street. You are offering THEM a service that they would otherwise have to provide themselves and that means they would have to get equipment, set aside space, make purchases, pay bills, and rely on volunteers to actuall man the coffee stall and do the work...etc etc etc. That all spells "headache" to them. You are saving them unnecessary work and trouble, are you not? So maybe you need to sit down with them and open up as to how much you are taking, and show them that if they hit you with a site fee, that it's not worth doing...because THEIR CROWD IS NOT giving you enough turnover in return. Like everyone says, you have to pay me so I can pay them so they can in turn pay someone else etc. Just an honest thought. No??? Regardz, FC.

Thanks FC, any advice is good adivce.  I think I'm now armed with enough reasons for them to pay ME to be at their venue!  Will try to write something super intelligent to submit to the "committee" and see where I get.  There were a lot of unhappy campers at sport this morning without their necessary coffee!   Louise

Hello,   This is a similar situation im looking into.  I was wondering more on how much the average cost price of a cup of coffee is so i can work out a suitable price mark up.  I plan to open a small coffee stall at a local market place and I want to work out my pricing to ensure I cover my costs. I know it depends on the price of the ingredients, so if anyone knows statistics on how many cups on average can be created by 1kg of beans, and 1L of milk. Anything like that would help me a lot.   Thanks, -Wind
