Instant Coffee

Out of curiosity, I had a read about the process of making instant coffee (at the production stage, not consumption). I came across this from Wikipedia:

A couple of choice quotes:

Very funny, in a subtle way.

Do you think they are taking the p@$s?

It is an interesting process, I was once involved in a project to produce a specialty instant coffee....and glad to leave in behind. We landed up getting a relatively good tasting product but it would have had to sell at around $30/200gm. The quote about resulting in a better quality product is in relation to freeze drying as opposed to spray drying. Careful with context mate. Another interesting fact is that over 50% of new instant coffees are just the same thing rebranded. But yes, as we've explored in other posts, if the masses like it...

I'm aware of that - my reference was to their comment that "...a higher quality product...is very important in the instant coffee market" oh well, I'll just have another cup of Bland 43 P

I think that was a typo on their part. It should have read " a percieved/marketed higher quality product......is very important in the instant coffee market"
