After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

buying a machine

edited January 1970 in Have your say
Hi all,
I'm new to all this so i hope someone out there can point me in the right direction. I am looking to buy a machine for home (not automatic) that isn't too bulky. My price range is b/w $700 - $1000. I've seen the 'coffee for connoisseurs' website, they have a silvia machine in my price range. Any advise or suggestions?

  • Lots of people have the Silvia and give great reviews for it.    If you don't have a grinder, I would suggest setting aside a portion of that budget for a good burr grinder.  The grinder will have the greatest impact on the quality of coffee from any machine. One person to talk to would be Fresh_Coffee.  He will point you in the right direction for a machine/grinder that will best fit into your budget.
  • Thanx for that nunu i will speak to fresh_coffee he sounds like the guru around here from what i've been reading
