After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

HAVING FUN WITH CUSTOMERS

edited January 1970 in Have your say
For a bit of customer fun and interaction, we use some drinks names to farewell our patrons - which they get a kick out of.

Below is  a few that we use. Are there any others out there that could be added to the list?

See ya latte - See you later
Perculater - See you later
Chai - Ciao

  • Dear Hotbean, mate im all for having a laugh and interacting with customers, but that is no way to do it! I wouldn't be surprised if farewells such as "see you latte" actually made some customers stop coming. To put it simply there are much better ways of having a laugh than saying latte in your farewell. For the sake of your customers i hope your espresso is much better than your sense of humour! All the best Bonya
  • Well I was thinking that but I wasn't going to say anything.   Now that Bonya has...."Yeah" <crawls back into hole>
  • We used to make some of the staff from the other shops (who get a discount so would always come back) sing their orders. Quite entertaining for the other customers and did wonders for staff morale  ;D
  • learn your customers names and orders  :-*
  • Not bad, but you must CHAI harder.  Ha, Ha, Ha.... ACG
  • Look, there's a fine line you dont cross with clients. Suggest this goes over it & could lose clients...people in upper management with well developed goodwill with regular clients might be able to pull it off (with some), but younger / newer employees trying this on clients they dont know or know well enough and maybe naively going a bit too far in the things they might come up with / nah, not a good idea. This is something that would require a policy set by individual cafe owners & managers. If they reckon its ok, then they take responsibility if it backfires not you. geez, does that mean I just agreed with someone elses opinion above? Woops, G.
  • Hi All, I guess the main reason why I posted this was to have a bit of fun and possibly get some new phrases. I do agree that there is a time and a place for everything and stress that these phrases are only used in moderation. We have great staff at our Cafe that connect with our customers well and even if I do say so myself, have fairly good espresso to match. So, for those of you that would like to give your brain abit of a stretch and have a bit of fun, please post your suggestions, however for those of you who don't have that much to stretch or would like to inferiorize this type of having fun, I suggest go back to making that fantastic espresso you do so well at. : )                 ~ Long Live the Espresso ~
