long mac (variation)

greetings,

recently when i order a long mac i have been getting 2 very different drinks.

1, a long black with a few mls of cold milk and a tiny staining of micro foam on top

2; a doppio with a few mls of cold milk and a tiny staining of microfoam on top

these 2 drinks taste completely different and i much prefer the latter. I had always thought a long mac was drink 2, but i am beggining to think i may be wrong

Hi To me a long mac has always been a double shot with just micro foam on top. I could be wrong though because i've been served 5 or 6 different variations when out. LE

ive always been taught that a long mac is double shot with textured milk pretty much to the top of the mac glass :| macs are the sorta drink that whenever possible the barista should ask how the customer prefers it because there are a fair few perceptions on how they should be served.

the most common i've found have been doubles no added water, variations on hot or cold milk though by definition i think you need hot to have microfoam to "stain"...

Well, we make a few of them at my joint, and I would have to say that my preferred tipple consists of a double shot (no more than 40mls max), topped with about 30ml of freshly steamed milk - finished with a splash of cold milk. I like to be able to throw my LM down the gullet straight away!  So for that reason alone I like the cold milk added! ACG
