After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Beanscene's Steve Agi?

understand that Beanscene's editor Steve Agi has left [under contentious circumstances]? Shame, as he seems to have been quite a good guy - does anyone know what's happened there?

    not wishing to speak out of turn, but I'd say its down to "creative differences" with the group editor of Beanscene.

    I heard it was more than that - a couple of stories in recent issues which weren't researched properly and got things wrong? dR

    Got things wrong? You mean the recent article written by 'Gabriele'....? Many stories/rumours floating around, ask Steve himself if you want his side of the story but dont make it sound like he resigned due to him not doing his job properly. Beanscene are bringing out a new monthly review publication, things are happening without the editors approval - as I said, many rumours.

    Guys let's stop speculating on the wherefores and whyfores i think it's enough to say that steve has helped to advance the coffee cause in Australia in a pretty major way and we should be celebrating that...

    *sigh* Like I said, I don't want to speak out of turn, nor do I want to be part of the rumour mill. I'll repeat my inital answer - "creative differences" with the Group Editor of Beanscene magazine is what I suspect trigerred Steve's resignation. But, i don't know the whole story, I don't think any one does and the best person to ask is Steve himself. He's not exactly a shy retiring type and be easily contacted.  ;D

    have a look at the October issue and read the article on London Coffee. You can form your own opinion about how accurate, relevant and up to date it is I'm sure. It certainly upset James Hoffman ...

    Well hello there all, Steve Agi here. Thanks so much for all your support and love, thanks also for the reality checks....... Yes I've left BeanScene, as I did Melb Coffee Review a few months earlier. Why? Well it's quite simple. I am quite a simple person, as those of you who know me will testify, I hope! I am a straight shooter who speaks from the heart and when something is not quite right, when it is out of my control and when those who hold the power refuse to listen, it's time to exit, stage right! BeanScene Magazine was and could have been great, really finding a space in between Crema and Cafe Culture and carving out it's own unique position. In the end I was not happy with direction, content and publisher choices so I was left with no choice. This was a very personal decision and in no way reflects on BeanScene, the publication and it's quality. I'm sure it will still be as popular as ever. All good, que sera sera! I wish the Prime Creative team all the best with it and will obviously continue on my highly caffeinated journey to hopefully one day find or create the perfect platform and vehicle to really promote, grow and give back to the coffee industry, who has given us all so much.     G'day Steve and welcome to this forum. I read both Aussie magazines and certainly enjoy them. Thanks for putting your side of the story, certainly helps to scotch the rumours which may or may not be founded on fact. Hope to see more of you in the future. :)

    Without wanting to blow this up more than has been done I think the use of a nom de guerre in particular to have a dig at a part of the industry smacks of tabloid style sensationalist journalism, if it came as written from a person of note then the persons opinions are what is in question rather than the magazine which has in the past produced some great content and articles :-\
