Have to agree with you KK, way too earthy for my palate, greens from this part of the world are on my do not buy list.

Does anyone know if there is anyone that still has the Brazil Bourbon? My OH loves this but I can't seem to find it anywhere now, or is there another bean that is very close to it?

Drop Jeff a line http://www.mycuppa.com.au/GreenBeans/ maybe give the Yellow bourbon a go and the Bukit Marante I have had as brown was a good one too if you want to try something different.

I just unpacked 4kg of brown beans from Jeff this morning so yes recommended

if you are drinking milk coffees then the suuweet blend is well worth a go too.

I have done an edit on the first post here to to reflect our sponsors that carry Greens too we currently have 4 and I am not sure if CosmoreX sells Green but Attilio might like to let us know. Roasted a little from my WOTB basmati rice bag yesterday so I will report back in the brown section in a few days.

SS, there is a small amount of BZL YB left - we don't really sell greens as a focus actually, but you are more than welcome to grab some - always happy to help out folks in need. This BZL YB is naturally pulped and has a very clean and sweet cup - it can also handle darker roasts if you are seeking caramel and hazelnut notes. Some other BZL naturally pulped beans will taste very similar or equal to this BZL YB. We do have some very special Brazil that was prepared for the Japanese Premium market - sun dried, raised bed, stabilized in wooden vats for 3 months prior to shipment - very nice - but that's just teasing so I will stop there !.

Thanks Jeff, yes it is something that I roast darker than what I normally would but my OH really does like this, we were discussing what was the best cup that I'd given him so far and it was a while ago but yes it was the Bourbon that has been roasted dark. The other one sounds interesting too. Mmmmm blackberry, now I didn't see any of that on your website :D

I know that some New Zealanders have successfully done it I dont want the disappointment if I do order and its destroyed by quarantine on arrival KK

Roughly speaking you can get a country based import arrangement. So for example you can arrange to get beans from the USA generally including Sweet Marias etc or you could get ANOTHER for PNG and yet another for Timor. The rules are hard to navigate and expensive so unless you plan to get quantity and resell you are far better off to go local and pay the higher $$/kg. If you are referring to Redzone (Chris Blair) the Kiwi and all round nice guy then yes he does buy into NZ from the USA but different quarantine I am sure.

Oh just thought I'd say that this has nothing to do with price, they do get varieties that we don't get over here so just thought I'd ask the question. KK that's also why I wouldn't do it if no one else has tried. I know that in their shipping information they state that they have only ever had three shipments stopped and none of them were in Australia.

According to the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, Raw/Green Coffee is listed as an item that CANNOT be mailed to Australia. Refer to the following link for more info: http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/mail/cant-mail This doesn't mean that coffee cannot be imported just that it cannot be received through the mail and will be seized if detected. All raw/green coffee imports must follow due process in order to legally enter this country.

Ahhh so I could if I wanted to, it would just cost a bit on top of what I'd pay for shipping up to 5kg of green beans. Oh well just stick to what I can get here

Unfortunately, it's not easy - even with Permits. 4 years ago I spent numerous weeks, phone calls to AQIS in Canberra and lots of running around to arrange an import Permit to bring in 30kg of washed arabica from Asia for a trial. Having checked with AQIS that I have all bases covered, paid my permit fee, etc. then waited, waited, waited.........waited. AQIS had decided to seize my parcel, despite having the permit at our end, the senders documents were in a foreign language and AQIS then proceeded to place my parcel in quarantine in Sydney (very useful for me in Melbourne) and threaten me with a high fee to be charged for storage and disposal if I did not collect the goods - after paying for the contents to be Bromide because AQIS wanted to be extra safe. The whole experience was a wasted exercise (time, money, emotion) - almost 4 months from end to end. Having said all that, AQIS do a fantastic job - just getting through the process efficiently can be challenging. I did learn that some countries are trusted more than others.........according to AQIS (unofficially of course). If anyone intends to proceed down the path of import, just ensure you have a method of getting your goods from an AQIS compound to you, otherwise it can become expensive and very difficult, especially when you are interstate or remote. Sweet Marias sometimes have (in the past) listed similar lines to Zephyr, of which MTC may be able to assist (as the Aus agent), but only in decent volumes.
