After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Starbucks instant coffee!!

edited January 1970 in Have your say
Recently we reported that the big chuck had started producing its own instant coffee; a Seattle newspaper reports it is now exporting its new instant coffee to its London cafes.
Starbucks did not share specific numbers, but said its first week was very successful.

Starbucks estimates that the instant coffee market is worth $17 billion. The company unveiled VIA in February and started offering it in Chicago and Seattle in March.

  • In my opinion, the taste of Starbucks coffee was comparable to that of 'instant' anyway. Starbucks posted a video introducing their new instant coffee in YouTube: Curious though... Cheers, Andrew
  • pretty smooth video - gotta give it to them, they have a great marketing machine... still proves what most of us have known for a long time - it's about the money not the coffee! dR :-/
  • they can package it however they like; they're still a R&G coffee company that's sold out, as far as i'm concerned!
  • like they say you can package a t*** but its still s t***
  • Hi guys - as reported here in March, the Australian has just written an article announcing the launch of Starbucks' instant coffee - Via - in the US [good thing our friends at the Australian keep up
  • pretty interesting admin - suppose it's just a matter of time before they bring it in here?? dR
  • yes, apparently they're 'taste testing' it with customers in the US at the moment - will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.

A mate of mine is hard to convert... But just got this as we are having a meet up and I will be modding a Br.evil Smart Grinder... Thus he knows the other guy and I will be in coffee mode... **************** I'll show you a trick with International Roast that gives a crema of about 1/4"  :o 8) You just put the coffee dust and some sugar into a cup with about two or three drops of warm water and whisk with a spoon. In short order you get a thick, white, and very fine froth. Note, this only works for International Roast (smooth yet satisfying) and Maconna coffee for reasons stated in previous emails. So who needs all that machinery to get a caffeine hit? I reckon KISS. Instant coffee rules!!   ;D :D ****************
Hey AM, I do a similar trick with cow sh@t got the tomatoes.... Probably tastes just as good also!
