After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Can you advise if anyone has previously prepared a generic checklist of sorts for starting up a new mobile coffee business run?

If so, would love to know how to locate it.

If not, would you have any objections to me using this medium to canvas the audience for their ideas/experiences in setting up, creating a generic list and posting it for all to see.

What do you think.

    G'day everyone, I am seeking info on what issues y'all had to cover off when setting up and maintaining your mobile coffee run businesses. I am researching the steps I need to do to start trading for myself and have found it difficult to obtain any sort of checklist. My visit to my local council today yielded next to no info :-[ and as such, I am hoping to create a "generic listing" with all your ideas/experiences and post it on this website for others to leverage off. I do understand requirements will differ from one geographic to another, but a generic list as a starting point would be better than what I have right now - - -  which is nothing. Thanks for your time and hope you can drop a few lines to help out. Rgds JC

    The only things you "need" are 3 sinks (hand washing, and two for washing up), running hot and cold water, a work are that can be kept clean, and proper disposal of waste water. The problem with that is that each council will have a different interpretation of what exactly they mean (and might add a few more if they feel like it) so you need to have detailed discussions with the council involved to find out what they will and wont accept. I found that if you walk in with a strong idea they will work with you to achieve what you want (again that will depend on the individual council). Hope that helps.

    Most (but not all) mobile coffee operators that I have spoken to are very happy to share the 'trade secrets' about how their set-up works - especially if they've purchased a franchise vehicle which comes pretty much stock standard anyway In fact you may want to contact some franchise mobile coffee operations in your area (or thereabouts) and ask them for an information brochure on the basis that you're a prospective client Should tell you all that you need to know :) Also you're going to encounter lots of hurdles becoming established and setting up a successful business, not the least of all building and maintaining your client base Once you are actually up and running you'll probably look back at the set up and think that was easy compared to getting a new business off the ground!
