After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Pulled the trigger on Rossa & Rosco Kit.

edited January 1970 in Grinders
After my less than stellar experience with the Aeropress during our recent trip and after quite a bit of research I've ordered a Rossa & Rosco Kit.
The expectation is that during our next sojourn morning coffee will consist of espresso and Turkish, SWMBO will be able to enjoy an evening flat white.
Hope the devices live up to the hype and don't become expensive display pieces. :-|

  • At least they'll be pretty (if expensive) display pieces, if worst comes to worst. ;) Seriously tho, they look great, I'm anticipating a full report, hopefully with video, once they arrive. Wow. That sentence had a lot of commas.
  • I have seen and used the grinder in person It is built like a German tank  :thumb: KK

Hope the worst does not come about : a full report will be forthcoming, perhaps with a couple of jpg's, certainly won't be moving pictures i don't go there. ;)

Certainly looks and sounds like a substantial and beautifully made grinder, looking forward to getting my hands on it. :)

While on the road if you put the set - one in each hand - they can be used as exercise dumbbells  :lamp: KK
  • don't know how you will manage a flat white with that setup. look forward to a review when you get it though.

Just add milk to the extraction!?
  • wow - that's a great looking kit - I wonder how long it will be till a cafe opens up only offering this form of extraction? I see it happening in Sydney first...
  • Great stuff, Did you get the profile version with the pressure gauge or without? I've actually asked Ross to do a demo of his kit here in Brisbane and he said he would... Dependant on; when circumstances allow. Mark at Old Joes in Coorparoo has also made his shop available as a venue for Ross, when and if circumstances allow. As for a Cafe offering Rossa brews... Well it could work as a boutique brew, but the one thing this system will struggle with is volume... The emphasis is definitely on supreme quality, not quantity. The machine will certainly handle as many multiple brews as you want to pull- but doing this on a commercially viable basis... Well good luck with that. Congratulations and Enjoy! Don't forget a few pics.... OG

Went for the version sans gauge OG, the gauge looks pretty geeky to me. Your right, this is most definitely not a system for making numerous back to back shots (it doesn't claim to be) more on my thought after it arrives and I've had a chance to play. :)
  • Congratulations on the purchase mate!  Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it once you are up and running!
  • [img][/img]I just got the the Rosco Mini Hand grinder and love it. There is really nothing Mini about it, it is just perfect size and shape, I am 6'2" tall and 88kg so I am not a small guy, this is it in my hand. It is a real work of art and cuts through the beans rather than crushing them. It really lifted my game! I would recommend the mini, as Ross said the regular grinder will be phased out once he runs out of stock and he has adapters for the mini now for different baskets ect.
  • it's certainly  a great looking unit cant wait to see some action shots!

Nice one DB.  ;)  A video would be nice though! :) Very interested in your purchase.  Having seens the Rosco handgrinder at the SE QLD meet I think you'll be happy.  Very well made, and easy to use.  I would have loved more time with it one on one with the same beans, and the lusso.  I might just have to buy one! Maybe you should clear the discarded coffee equipment cupboard out to fund your purchase.  I'll be interested in your aeropress.  ;)

It's a bit like a potential museum Lacehim, I seldom sell any coffee gear, it just gets retired. ;)

I have sold my bigger stuff like the Krups, Silvia and the Unico Splendor but to be honest, I too want Coffee paraphernalia on display and enjoy revisiting older gear.  I subscribe to your 'keep it close' policy DB.  Ours is a hobby as much as a craft and part of the joy is the journey, the exploration and revisiting taste experiences for nostalgia and enjoyment.
  • lace- I am just down the road, anytime you want a go at it just let me know. cheers! C-
