After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Brasil yellow bourbon

edited January 1970 in Green Beans
Work has me staying in Brasil for a few days, in Campinas. Lucky me, it turns out to be the home of a very nice SO I haven't had for a while.

Visiting a roaster later this afternoon for some cupping, and to see if I can get my hands on another suitcase load of green beans...

  • Spent a very interesting afternoon at the roastery, and after an informative tour, a sample roast and a heap of cupping, I left for home with 24kgs of yellow bourbon and also a very nice organic. Also got a look at their post roast sorter which scans each bean individually, and then picks out by under/over size and colour. The beans only just fits in my suitcase without much room for anything else.  I think some clothing sacrifices will need to be made... ;) Leaving tonight and back home in a few days.
  • Thanks for sharing this nice story of visiting a coffee processing and roasting establishment in Campinas - Brazil  How do customs view green bean imports in the Middle East ? And enjoy the espresso  :thumb: KK

Absolutely! What a wonderful adventure!  Thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through your travels.  Pics??
  • Sorry for the lack of pics.. As usual, I was in a bit of a hurry and only had the Iphone /  camera with me.  Back home late tomorrow. Customs generally not a prob as everything here is imported anyway, but we will see.....
  • The Brazil Yellow Bourbon is one of our favourites, would have been worth a look :)
  • Interesting side issue to your trip. I wouldnt be too worried by the quality of photos to be made with the eyephone. They're quite good for "quick" pics and better than many (phone cameras). If you did take some photos but are just worried they wont be up to others expectations, I wouldnt worry and am sure we would all like to have the opportunity to look see if you change your mind :) A.
  • great story, no way would they let them into OZ and 20kg is the baggage limit on most flights How did you pull that one off? When I was in Rio bought some nice rainforest beans from the street markets that's about all.
