Labels for Coffee bags

edited August 2012 in Accessories
Now that I have 200 silver coffee bags   I though it was about time that I made myself a fancy label to stick on them.  I don't supply a heap of folk but a marker pen scribble really doesn't give my beans the love they deserve! :)

Anyone got any suggestions about what type of labels to use, or any templates for labels for bags?

  • I recently got 20 brown paper one-way-valve bags and got a round brown Avery label to go with them from Officeworks. Came up a treat, I'll post a shot when I have have a chance to: a) Roast b) Roast enough to be giving 'em away c) Print up labels for said given-away-beans For a silver bag I reckon any Avery label would do. I'm partial to the round ones, but the templates are only available in Word format (blerg) and a bit crappy.
  • I use those rectangular self adhesive labels that you can print on a normal printer. I made a template up with my details and just write the roast date in by hand.
  • I've been using those silver/clear bags for my roasted coffee for a while now... I wanted labels too, but as my friends return the bags when they want more beans it got too expensive to change labels all the time..  :(. I just use some clear tape and marker pen, then just remove tape and put a new piece on when I supply new beans I know it's not really any help with your question, just my 2 cents
  • Drop a white sticker on them and go old school Chinograph pencil maybe? Even whiteboard markers will do the job if you are reusing bags. I did some small Avery based ones a while back and I have started doing some proper artwork for a commercial run of sticker stock with a blank section for printing or writing on by me.
  • Expensive but very very cheap for what it does: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplies/Labelling/Label-Machines/BRQL700 Very easy to use and makes great labels. Officeworks seems the cheapest for the unit. eBay for the labels. The quality difference between original labels and copies is small. The QL-570 does the same job, a little slower on low resolution but it is superseded by the one above and is getting harder to come by.
  •  In those belissimo bags AM ? I just keep scribbling on them but have moved up to a label maker from coles :D
  • Marking pen Remove with metho when required to replace the name KK
  • Avery labels L7163.....14 to a sheet (A4) get them from officeworks..... make up your own design, MS Word has print templates for all Avery stock too easy and quite neat.

    Yep for sure KK.
  • Wonder, you can't keep reusing bags as eventually the oils from earlier roasts will go rancid. A trick I use is to line the bags with a small freezer bag. They are very cheap and keep your valved bag clean. I use the Avery L7161 labels. 18 to a sheet (3 x 6)
  • Thanks guys.  I'll check out the avery labels at OW.  Great ideas though from all of ya! I'm not really good at remembering what's in the bag either, and I would like something that I can put on and give to someone as a gift or to sell to friends. :)

Yeah thanks TG, I use each bag 5x, then out they go.. Will have to get the 500g bags next so I can try the freezer bag insert
