After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

New Compak Essential range

edited January 1970 in Grinders
Compak are releasing a new range of grinders, along with some minor refreshes to their other lines.

But it's the new 'Essential' series I'm most interested in.

There are four models:

E10 Master Conic OD, E10 Conic OD, E8 OD and E6 OD.

The first two are 68mm conical burr sets with the primary difference being speed and power between the Master and the Conic.

The E8 is a flat burr 83mm with the E6 is a 64mm conical.

Apparently prices will be available in the next few days. Hopefully this will put these grinders square in the 'fussy but poor' home market price range! ;)

  • Wow... They look cool!  Fussy but poor???  LOL.... Your definition of poor may differ slightly to the WHOs...  :stir
  • :) you know what I mean. If they're under $2K for a big conical it'll be a bargain. Prices drop Wednesday I believe.
  • I love the universal PF holder as a new feature.  Sure it's not a reason to upgrade for me but its cool.  I wonder what the grind retention is??  Only thing for it is that a Crema buys one and measures it for us ;)

I'm with you mate. Fully adjustable so the potential to avoid mess or, as much as possible. That is nearly a reason to upgrade.... :D Still love my MD4 though.....
  • Looking at a German website, the top o' the line comes in at AUD2300 plus freight
  • So about $4k then after the Australia distributor has had a bit, then retail, then GST. All these companies copy the same design, why can't anyone come up with a compact home grinder, low on mess, low on retention with a decent burr set?  Ummm?  Instead it's another big grinder, with a massive big top that doesn't fit under counter tops that holds 1kg of beans just to make 2 or 3 coffees a day. Won't be getting my $$$ I'm afraid.  And before you throw up the Vario, I've been there, and it still made mess, and the ceramic burrs were so so.  I could never get mine to grind fine enough. :(  Maybe I should drink pod coffee!  :coffee2:

That grinder does exist You should gaze at an Ekektra Nino However I'm not certain of height for youre needs Attachment not found.
  • I've only heard good things about the Nino. Next to zero grind retention and a solid performer. It performs better with a full hopper due to popcorning, but that's true of most similar grinders. A well known 'personality' in the coffee retail scene has the E10 Master Conic OD at $3k. I'm curious as to what the non master will be. The compak e6 OD, although a flat burr, looks like a solid performer - listed at $1500. I'm not sure how set in stone those prices are as my sources say pricing isn't 100% confirmed yet.
