After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Posting to Crema is hard work.

Yesterday 12/12th, only two new posts for the day! both on the same subject.

It's difficult posting when it seems no one really seems to care, posts of general interest seem to draw no response, posts directed at new comers are of little interest to anyone, it seems the only sure way to draw a response is to post something controversial.

Perhaps the theory needs to be tested. ;)

    Perhaps it's just that time of the year? But if the 'members on line' ratio hasn't dwindled in relation to posts posted, then we all must just be in "read only" mode.  :-X

    I don't get  :head: Can you elucidate further?? I am in a bit of a read-only rut because I have the rest of my life to contend with.  Also, there are some days I'm glad things are quiet because my life often is not thankfully!!

    Also, while things may be quiet on the boards, the applications for membership are going off in regards to spammers, scammers and shammers.... They're getting cleverer too at looking innocent, but not to clever for me  :pan

    G'Day Brett, The reason I post on any forum is to interact with like minded individuals, when little or no response is forthcoming the effort involved seems futile, I'm a member of other forums, have been for years, when you post some form of dialogue ensues, seems on Crema this is not the case, was a little different a few years back, things kind of bubbled along, albeit slowly, now its a pretty hard slog, hence  :head: Cheers, Jon. :)

    Yup sometimes I'm sure we all find this to be the case Db, but remember you're the one who disappeared off the face for a couple of years [no criticism intended] - just give it time and keep plugging away [& remember it's a bit of a busy time of the year for most people!]. A :)

    Agree 100% - and from my perspective this is very disappointing. Like Brett, my life is too full (busy) working more than twice a standard week in hours every week, so I struggle to get time at all to post anything. A while back, there was a fair bit of heated discussion regarding the perceived impact (or influence) of the chat area. Some of this debate reached emotional levels and there was some private discussions along with quite strong opinions that were stated publicly by members. At that time, I stayed out of the "switch off chat" debate out of respect for individuals to express their own opinions....thinking that it will sort it self out naturally. Personally, I never look at the chat area, so have absolutely no idea what goes on there other than if it's not working, people appear to get a little peeved - which is just an observation on my part. Thus, I don't know what sort of content is in the chat area or if it would make it's way into static posts had a chat area not been made available. I also don't know if there is a link between chat being available and the effect of reduced post counts. Have no proof, facts or anecdotal evidence to support such a theory, however, one can always speculate.......and people will speculate. We have tried our best to be open, transparent, respectful and considerate on this forum without the need to enforce too many constraints in comparison to some other forums where there can be rules and draconian consequences. Perhaps it's time now that some changes (or trials) are implemented.

    This happens to all forums and it happens in cycles. The problem is that there is so much good information on here that is easy to find so you end up with a lot of guests or lurkers in the shadows. Most forums will tolerate certain members that are known to stir the pot as they keep the posts coming giving the appearance of a much busier forum - perhaps the members here are to civil? Bring on some controversy and watch the post counts increase [emoji48]

    We've had our pot-stirring in this tread removed because the stirrers were playing the man not the ball so to speak! But your point is a good one!  I'm looking to offload my dual boiler pid for a Nespresso machine and a George Clooney haircut.

    Wow... That's like a whole 5.6 on the Moon Scale. Bargain!  Especially when people ask me why, I can say: "I know it's not great but it's better than Nespreso"! P.s I've yellow-cardded myself for drifting off-topic ;)
