After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

New soy milk

Hi everyone last week i got sent a box of the new dairy farmers soy milk to try its called ,crema or soy crema
well to you all out there i would recomend to stay away from this product and stick to the original one as this one is just like that special barista milk they have,the problem with this product is that its full of some sort of thickener and its like trying to steam a jug of slush,when it cools down it looks really bad,i was afraid to taste it..i dont know why they bring new products like this into the market feel sorry for the baristas outhere that think this product will help them to make a better tastier coffee,ohh and its endorsed by a barista champion.see ya OE

    Hi OE, well it just goes to show how much bull dust is attached to anything to do with the cafe industry these days, that companies have to pander to it by trying to produce products to "help" so called baristers along. If the baristers knew anything much about their job, they wouldn't need the help of products that have been specially produced or enhanced to "help" them, now would they??? And if I was a cafe owner I would not be hoodwinked by this kind of product. Milk was invented millions of years ago and works well enough if we know what we are doing, so is there any reason why we have to try to re invent it to help those that dont know what they're doing? Those who ask for soy milk know it tastes different and froths different...is there any need to try to reinvent this to try and try and make it do something that everyone knows it doesn't do (or cares about) ?????? G. still choking.

    Hi there everyone. I'm glad to see the new subject. I use Vita Soy in my coffee. I would like to know some thoughts on any better soy milk for texturing. The coffee I make is really nice to drink. I would like to make a more dense foam. I've had a really thick foam from my local Michells. Thanks in advance Smarty

    The new soy mentioned I have not tried. I think that the use of soy milk can come back to personal taste. I do not mind Vitasoy for my own coffee on the rare occasion that I drink a soy coffee. My preferences are for FRESH soy as opposed to the long life. However, one of the main problems with soy milk in the commercial situation is that the average coffee maker does not understand how to texture it. The other is that the old milk is often topped up and then reheated. Soy does not like to be reheated. Texture it once, then toss out the remainder and rinse the jug. JD

    last i heard from my milk man was that the new crema soy has been canned by dairy farmers and they are going back to the original in 2 weeks time as the crema stuff did not get a warm welcome out there .see ya OE

    Hi Guys - would be interested in knowing any more about your opinions on the different brands of soy - there's Soy Life (I think), Vitasoy, and the old Dairy Farmers (if O.E. is correct that they've dropped their new one)...and I guess also the Sanitarium one - So Good? Are any of them any better than any others? -A
