After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

hello to all
i stubbled across this thread and im thrilled i can converse with other coffee fans/shop owners

i built my own mobile coffee shop after seaching through franchise opportunities and figuring ild be better off doin it myself.
our (my wife and i)business is comming up to our first bday this april and im pleased to say so far it has been very sucessfull

ive always said to my wife i wish i knew someone else in our posistion to converse with to share ideas and methods
as im happy to share anything i know with all of you

    hey ryan welcome to the site! i'm sure you will find many like minded individuals here, who are self-employed and have built their business from scratch - if not physically then at least literally! the coffee kiosk i run used to sell 20 coffees per day when i took it over, now we do 700 plus  coffees on a good day, and we're coming up to our 5th anniversary ! what area are you based in?     Hi Pat thanks for the warm welcome "im not sure what the rules are about "plugging" a bussines so feel free to delete what you see fit" we are called Float 'n' Coffee we are based in SE melbourne, we trade on a disused truck weighbridge on the side of the road in between Officer and Pakenham.. on our first day we sold 4 cups lol but 2nd day sold 26 and so on..we average around 120 cups a day now between the hours of 6am-12 lunchtime.... we cater to the traffic going city bound. We recentley have survived a bypass of the road (Pakenham Bypass) which hit us hard initially but we have slowly recovered. i built the mobile shop out of an old "horsefloat" i spent 2 months tearing it down and rebuilding it with a clean funtional kitchen inside... hence we trade "inside" our little shop... you have to see it to fully appreciate it we are not big business but we have earnt ourselves a good reputation that we are proud of, and we are earning a living. and we are currently building our second float for another location. cheers Ryan

    Sounds like you have a good thing going, You should try to tap into the weekend horse racing and you would clean up.

    thanks for the compliment one-a-day we already do equestrian events some are good earners some arnt that great due to it being a competitor only... not alot of public come to these. and alot of the big race evnts have inhouse cafe's so we do well at these events but we dont neccessarily "clean up" cheers Ryan

    Good work mate, I am doing a similar thing to you with the mobile part but I am set up in the back of a Vito. I was amazed at how much work it takes to get all the pieces of the puzzle to fit. Glad to see you are enjoying it.

    thankyou for your kind words. im glad im not the only one who thought it wasnt easy lol yes it is a massive jigsaw puzzle where all peices have to fit or it wont work .... its not like there is a text book out there for it, you cant just throw machines at a vehicle and away you go. lol its good to hear you've done it all yourself moto-coffee ,merc vito seems to be the popular choice they're good vans....congrats and hope you do well Ryan

    We should form a group to help support each other with ideas, contacts and even work together for large events. Mind you we all tend to be independent buggers so the last one might be an issue. We could call ourselves the crema nomads!!!
