After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

New car and good coffee.

edited January 1970 in Have your say
Perhaps this should be in the Best Cafes area but as its kind of a double edged post thought I would post it here.
Made the arduous trip down to Adelaide yesterday and bought a brand new used car from "Near New Cars" at Goodwood road Cumberland Park.
During the course of the transaction I felt the need for a coffee, the owner of the car yard "Nic Barnes" directed me to a cafe right behind his yard called "The Perfect Blend" as soon as I walked in I could sense it was an above average establishment, small, clean, well set up, good range of cakes and pastries and the young lady behind the counter was well and truly switched on.
Ordered a long black and a Bee Sting (type of custard filled cake with honey and almond topping, the coffee was way above average as was the cake.
The perfect Blend is situated on the southern side of Woolworths car park at Cumberland park, well worth a visit.
As a matter of interest the service I received from Nic and the cars he sells are also well above average.
No one paid me anything for these endorsements, simply felt compelled to comment as its not often nowadays you walk away after spending a substantial amount of money feeling good about the whole experience. ;D

  • Nice one mate it's not often an unexpected good coffee happens especially from somewhere that's not 'rated' - so it's worth mentioning When I bought my Skoda Octavia Scout ex dealership last year the (Italian) owner of the dealership sat me down for half and hour while we shot the breeze - he then said can I make you are coffee to which I replied 'no offense but I've seen your machine ... Mind if I make you one?' Which I proceeded to do so Afterwards the guy said 'now can I sell you a car?' And it was so refreshing to be treated like an individual as opposed to a walking cheque book that I bought the car and have never looked back! (great car by the way turbo diesel which will run from Melb to Syd on a single tank!)
  • Congrats on the new car and congrats on finding a gem in the rough (cafe) to help in the long drive back home What car did you actually purchase  :o Dry Bean KK

Mornin KK. Oct 2007 Falcon Futura station wagon, with, wait for it, 19100 k's on the clock, drives like a new car ;D I'm a long time Falcon owner, the last three I've had have all given me around 300,000 trouble free kilometre's so see no reason to change now. The Futura has a few bells and whistles I haven't had in the past, now that I'm a poor old retiree figured a little extra comfort would be nice. ::)

Know what you mean, hard to find good personalised service nowadays, been shopping for a while, went into one of the bigger Ford dealers the other day, the salesmen descended on me like a pack of bloody vultures, I react badly to being pressured and let them know it, when it was obvious I was about to walk they played their trump card, trotted out the dolly bird sales lady, t*t's hanging out, high heels and a skirt that only just covered the vital parts, unbelievable, I just kept walking. ::)

I have to ask Were they real or fake  ::) I will put my [ 8)] blinkers on and walk on KK

They were the real deal mate, nothing left to the imagination, well, very little. :o
  • I walked into a Subaru dealership when I was buying my car - last day of the financial year so I new ut was a good time to haggle - so I asked to speak to the floor manager and I heard him say: tell him I've left already as he walked out the door Deal or no deal? No deal!
  • Used car salesmen are not exactly known for being the sharpest knife in the drawer, sounds like you got a real dull one. ;D
