After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

What should I roast tonight?

I've got nearly 500g each of the Kalistat and Yirg. I'd like to do at least one, possibly two roasts tonight with the aim of some post-roast blending.

Here's what's on hand:

Indian Monsoonal Malabar
PNG Kimel A
Brazil Daterra Estate Sweet
Dom Republic AA Cibao Altura Constanza
Sumatran Kuda Mas
Costa Rica Herbazu Estate
Kenya Dorman Estate AA

Ideally looking for a simple roast profile that's good for blending.

  • Go the Herbazu! With 500gm you can go hard and fast to first crack then lower the heat to about 175 +/- 10 on your TO for about 5 minutes then dial back up to 200 +/- 10 and coast to second crack. Pull it just on first snaps of 2nd crack. I say +/- as my TC reads a bean mass temp of 195 when my TO is set to 185 etc.
  • So you have roasted recently Indonesian & African Time for a South American and a PNG  :P KK
  • Sounds good! Getting started shortly.
