Hobart Coffee

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
Hi All,

At Admin's request, I have come to start this topic and review Hobart's coffee, one cafe at a time.

To start with we will go to The Timeless Way, Hunter Street, Hobart waterfront.

Owned by a lovely man called John, The Timeless Way is a relatively new staple to Hobart, being open for only just over a year.

Situated in the old IXL building, The Timeless Way boasts beautiful  old stone walls, with plenty of mood lighting, stainless steel work benches, comfy booths and tables, and an intimate room for four or so at the front of the building.

Cakes, muffins, sandwiches, tramezzinis and of course coffee.

John proves his skills beautifully, making lovely lovely cappucinos, great crema and milk. His lattes are somewhat unconventional but  most welcome, with the customers pouring his own coffee into the latte glass, already filled with milk. This eliminates the 'weak' or 'strong' complaint.

Topped with cinnamon, and the option of white, raw or equal sugar, John's coffees are such a delight. The entire atmosphere of The Timeless Way, complete with music from the 40's-60's and a bit of modern jazz, make this place just a slice of heaven on a weekend. And his Sicilian Apple Cake just makes me drool.

Trust me, check it out. (And admire the pretty menus and opening hours signs... I made em.)

Cheers,
Amy

(Admin - was this the kind of thing you had in mind?)

  • Hi Amy, yes this is exactly the sort of thing i was thinking of. -A
  • hello... I've worked at Timeless Way for two years.. (which narrows down the list to about two people... anyway) I must admit it was the coffee that made me drop in my resume.. but there are plenty of other places that do great coffee in hobart... so it's a shame that this page died... I love my coffee and am always seeking new places to go for coffee... so please continue?? or will i have to start reviewing myself?
  • Time to get this moving again
  • One worthwhile place to try is Island Espresso, three blocks up from the mall in Elizabeth street. The coffee here is really good. The cappucino had a lovely sweet mellow taste too it and was well presented. Just really great coffee here. Just found it today. The decor is warm and comfortable and inviting. Well worth a look at.
  • Just a thought Flp - this is the sort of thing you can post on our 'rate your cafe' section - it's good to give good places the kudos they deserve. -A
