After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Ok, now that last nights wine has cleared my system, its time for some more pics. The motor mount is a bit crude but effective. I butchered the window regulator to suit and inverted the motor to get more clearance. Slight height difference between the mounting surfaces of the motor cradle so I used 22mm timber on one side and 19 mm the other - again crude but effective. I welded a 1/4 drive socket to the gearbox sprocket after removing the gearbox from the motor. It all lines up great with about 3 mm clearance ( depth wise).
The base is just 18 mm MDF. I ran the router around to make the recess for the frypan legs. It fits perfectly and takes all the location hassles out of the equation. You can position it any way that suits, even move it around mid roast. I dont know if I will need any insulation on the top of the MDF. I'm sure heat from the TO will come down past the drive shaft and there is the frypan element there as well - see what happens
The agitator. I struggled with this for ages. I'm going with a 3 blade made from bits of whisk with a bent piece of metal at the base to try and keep the beans away from the centre. The blades work well but a few beans still get caught at the centre. I'll try it and see how it goes. Its ugly as but I'll judge it based on its function rather than its form :rofl:
I used a 1/4" copper pipe that had the centre drilled out and the ends flanged out. I'll post a pic later.
A quick snap. Despite appearances it agitates the beans very well and because it is so malleable I could tweak it for best coverage. The SS wires are from an old rotisserie.
Totally out of my league KK. Pics are one thing, vids quite another but you are more than welcome to handicam up anytime you want. Hopefully my greens arrive tomorrow and I'll get the TO from Chris and all shall be well :thumb:

The first roast would be considered as :thumb: The second ( Photos 3&4 ) roast looks like its on the verge of second crack and needed a little more time That should not distract you from sampling it, it will just need extra time to degas KK
Had a look at the video (#1) Looks a fair bit better than previously It may need a stubby half size agitator at the opposite end of the full one Experiment a little and see what comes from it Use those coloured segments as your guide KK
It works well. The video does lie. It looks way more physco in the vid than in real life. Still, I'm convinced its the shape of the bowl that is causing issues. With a small load its ok (300gm) but get above that and the outer beans get no workout, just get kept to the outer. At least now they get a workout but at the expense of the central beans been overworked maybe ? I'm determined to make the current bowl work though. Tomorrow is a new day and with it comes a new agitator :rofl:
