After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • How's about we advertise the wrong model machine and even get the specs wrong in the seller's description....
  • And my personal favourite.  Insert attractive baristar and a promise of wifi-enabled clunker to make the sale.... Doesn't she look completely competent and assured of the quality of the item on sale.... holding that empty cup.....
  • So am I the only one that went and checked out the listings  :pan?
  • Okay... Why is this 'rare'?? Does it: A. Rarely work B. Rarely make a drinkable coffee C. Is it actually a real-life Koala disguised as an appliance... that would be rare. D. Are they in short supply due to being short on quality and desirability Without further ado :

I just got into trouble for laughing too loudly.  My kids don't get the joke!
  • The Vice Versa Koala.....Rare?....well yes it is rare enough in this market but not in a "valuable" way, just few in number. A "throw away starter machine". From a functional sense, probably the worst thing about it is the very light weight due to plastic body, making it frustrating to use (atleast for someone used to more up market gear). Otherwise does work fine....enough to give a newcomer to espresso a taste for what it can be like, and the impetus to get into better gear. So not a bad idea all up. Unfortunately, handymen that want to fiddle OR workshops that dont have the requisite expertise in the model will break the clips that hold the body together, when trying to get inside if repair is needed. That certainly forces the issue of upgrade, and if I may say not worth the cost of repair when you are paying someone else to do it. If cheap enough in the beginning not a bad starter for those that are budget conscious, but if pricey enough may approach the cost of better built equipment  ;)
  • I started my journey with a Mr Cappucino so I will cease casting nasturtiums or any other edible vegetation. I also had a Krups machine that refused to die despite my fervent desires for it to do so allowing a new purchase!
  • Now I feel bad giving that unit a hard time FC. but it's still fugly. Sorry. Had to slip that in.
