Hi All, Newbie here. I love coffee but I'm a real beginner when it comes to making coffee. My standard coffee order is either a magic or double espresso if I feel like lowering my milk intake. I have just purchased my first coffee machine. I've got a Sunbeam EM6910 and Sunbeam grinder EM0430 (bought together second hand for a bargain!) Based on what I've read online the EM6910 is a good place to start, and I am also aware of the limitations of the EM0430 grinder. However, I just want to have a play around, learn from the start and if I get to the point where an upgrade is needed then I'm sure I will. I'm very much looking forward to learning from those on this forums. Already I'm learning new words (basket, naked filter, knock, tamper) and I'm super excited to being able to produce a drinkable coffee in my own home in the near future.

Welcome James! Yeah it's a great journey learning all about coffee and making it at home. Stick with the basics and keep things consistent and you'll be well on your way . Yeah alot of people start with that combo so good call, have fun with it, and ask away

Nice one Rodney and welcome to the forum! Im also in the process of setting up and managing a mobile coffee business for someone else - so we can compare notes! I ran mobile coffee carts in Melbourne and my own cafes before that, so I feel like an old hand, but Im up for a new challenge! Best, Pat

Hey Pat, I haven't worked in the cafe/retail industry before but have run my own horticulture business and survived. To make sure I'm heading down the right path, I'm attending a barista course this weekend to get as much information and instruction I can to ensure this is what I want to pursue. I am not too sure about the equipment side of things as I was originally looking at the Fracino duel fuel but by the sounds of things it may run too hot for the area it will be situated in the unit I'm using. Can you suggest a good coffee machine that is suitable for a coffee van? The dimensions need to be similar to the Fracino and the power output that I could run off a reasonable generator. Anyway, I hope your project goes well. Rodney

Hey Mal Welcome to the forum yes we try to be as positive and helpful as possible here without pushing our own agendas, so please feel free to contribute and ask away with any questions that you might have And Rodney there's plenty of machines with a similar footprint as the Fracino and indeed the Fracino is in my experience a well built machine that makes good coffee and you can just run it in electric only mode of the outside temperature is too hot Also I'd swap out the baskets in the coffee handles for something that has been lazer cut as the ones that come with the machine tend to gush coffee which I found was improved greatly by changing to baskets with smaller holes that had been lazer cut such as the VST ones In terms of other machines its horses for courses. I'd suggest going to a machine showroom if possible and having a look at what's out there If you're going to plonk circa $10k down on a machine then you may as well go the extra mileage and take a good look around for yourself Trade shows are also a good way to stay up to date with what's happening with equipment You can't go too far wrong really so long as the build quality is good and you'll probably end up upgrading equipment in a couple of years time anyway as this is usually how it goes Maybe have a chat with Paul from K Bean coffee he's on the forum and one of our site sponsors he sells machines for a living so he may be able to help you with the decision making process Or feel free to hit up any of our other sponsors for an in depth discussion! I joined the forum, because I need advice to choose coffee maker and also I want to know more about different types of coffee beans. Frankly speaking, I don't drink often a standard coffee, but I prefer drink based on coffee.
