After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Worked out pretty ok KK. The nutsert worked fine with a bit a ginning around. I think AM's suggestion of just making a blank and centre drilling in a lathe is the go. Then tap the thread and use a helicoil. More expensive though. The nutserts are about 80cents each. Helicoils are about $ 8 each by the time you buy the kit.

Nice :thumb: I can live with that as its all matching now
I assume that all that style of knob is the same ? Just have to get the process down. The OE bolt is too long for my liking and needs about 6 mm taken off it. It is longer than the nutsert which is unnecessary IMO. The OE knob has a plastic nutsert. I have a choice of ally or steel. I've gone with the steel initially, but the OE bolt will need a trim, unless I go down the helicoil road - which I might yet.
And one I did today mucking around. This one was cast as a blank ( not a moulded shape). I stuck it in a lathe to centre drill it then drilled and tapped for a SS helicoil insert. Worked great and its how I will do all future ones.
Fabulous! I have some more commissions for you. I don't think the steam and water toggles on the diadema are do-able but you may know something I don't ...

Ok, this is the first thing I turned on the new lathe. With no real idea of what tool/s to use and when I just muddled through it. Came up ok I reckon. Need to work on technique. I have real trouble getting a straight / parallel edge. Practice makes perfect I guess.
