After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

What coffee am I drinking at the moment?

Hi Sue, So whats your final verdict on the Suuweet blend? I just ordered a kilo so they should be here early/mid next week. R
I'm not any good at descriptions Geek but they were a very, very nice blend, smooth and chocolatey. I will definitely order then again. Sorry I am not much help. I am just contemplating my order for Monday  :coffee2:.

thanks Sue. Once I get them I'll pull a few shots and make a video (as always). I'm down to my last few shots of the espresso blend but I have some single origins I'm also going through to get me through. While my wife was pregnant she craved coffee so all I was giving her was pretty much a few drops extracted with milk (ultra weak latte). Now I make her a weak latte (pour half the shot out) and she complains that it's too strong. She's forgotten what a full strength coffee is like (and wine too).
  • Sorry I can't be more helpful  :P. Tastes go a bit strange when pregnant, I went off tea and have never really taken back to it. Gotta watch the caffeine too if she is feeding.
  • Has the Suweet landed on your doorstep yet Geek?

not yet sue. Was shipped yesterday so hopefully tomorrow. Eagerly awaiting. I'm running low on my elixir
  • Fingers crossed it won't be long then. Mine shipped yesterday too. 500gms each (I find 2 kilos that little bit much to get through in 2 weeks) of Panama Boquete, Brazil Cambara and Costa Rica Tarrazu  :coffee2:.
  • 1.5 kg over weeks is still a great effort Sue. I always enjoy the "looks" I get when telling friends and family that I was averaging 300g a week when I was living alone! They couldn't understand why I was using "all those beans" to make one cup of coffee when they just use a teaspoon of 'intent' coffee :o. Until I explained that old advertised "that's why there's 43 beans in every cup" jingle. ::) I know it (consumption) can depend on the family numbers and individual needs, but still it's obvious that your travels along this  :coffee2: path to date, have been both knowledgeable and enjoyed  Keep it up. (drinking and reporting)
  • Thanks Kevo. 300 gms a week is pretty good going for one I would think. Here we have me drinking it, Matt has a couple a day and my mum is here Mondays and Wednesdays so it all mounts up. This whole coffee thing has been a blast if not a little frustrating at times. There is still a monumental amount of stuff that is yet to 'click' with me though  :thumb:.

Ok .. let's get prepared. Firstly .. key in - The rest of my life .. Done. Roasted up the first of my new 5kg batch of green Costa Rica - Tarrazu ... in my humble popper. Dark roast <-- yeah baby.  :thumb:
  • Done Mr Moon  ;D. Have you tried the Costa Rica Tarrazu before or is this your first lot?

It's my 2nd lot. The first was a kilo of CR Tarrazu green and a kilo of an Ethiopian that Brendan from beangreen sent me for the Comp win. I liked the Tarrazu and it seemed a bargain @ $14 kilo Thought I'd stock up and not having to worry about running out of quality beans  8)
  • Was enjoying my last cup of espresso from mycuppa then the door bell rang. Talk about timing. I'll open this up later this morning and 'cup' it.

Aahh, I did wonder what you chose from the comp win, now I know :). $14 a kg is a good price. Enjoy!

You're in for a treat Geek. I was hoping mine would show this morning but it wasn't to be. I have enough to keep me going for a couple of days anyway.

The machine is warming up now. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I can work my magic and dial in my grinder in 2 goes.
  • I am surprised you have held off this long  :P.

Been very busy under the pump working at the milk bar if you know what I mean.
  • Finishing the MyCuppa Columbian.  This is a slightly lighter road than I'm used to but with the machine up a degree or two this is brilliant in milk and as a short black or Macc!  The chocolate gives way to delicate florals... Outstanding MyCuppa!

    I think I may have a slight inkling  ;D.

I am just finishing mine up too, I have a bit left for a few more cuppas and then I will be onto the next lot. I have to say I have enjoyed every cup I have had from it  :).
  • Ok. So I've had 3x doubles of the Suweet from mycuppa (5 days post roast). Each double shot was timed to 30 seconds. The only variable was grind fineness. First double was a ratio of 1:1. 18grams in and 18grams liquid out. Intense and sweet. Great for a walk up ristretto shot Second double was a ratio of 2:1. So ended up with 36grams in the cup. Again very nice and full bodied. Good for a riz too but not as thick as the 1:1 For a latte I ground finer and got a ratio of around 2.7:1 (48 grams out). Very nice in milk but not as good as a black as the other two prev shots All in all great coffee. I'll be enjoying this quite a bit. I might grind a little coarser and see how go to get more volume out of 18g for 2x lattes.
  • You'll be bouncing off the walls  :coffee2:.

i timed it right. 30 mins before my gym workout. So all good. [emoji108]
  • It should be a great workout then  ;D.
  • Who's going to help you get the Dumbbells off the roof?

Well I won't be doing that in a hurry again. 3x doubles in a row. I was buzzing for a bit. I didn't want to sink any shots as all three were great so I had to down them into my stomach. So no more coffee tonight but instead Friday has come early and now I'm having a nice ale.
  • Lol, oh well, today is a new day and all that, you can start again  ;D. My MyCuppa order is down for delivery this morning  :coffee2:. The eagle has landed.
  • I'm really getting beautiful and  sweet ristrettos out of the Suweet blend from mycuppa. A tight grind yields a very nice 30ml double riz full of body. Drip drip drip drip drip drip drip then starts flowing softly. Smashed a few tonight with family.
  • More wall bouncing for you Geek  >:D. I think the Suuweet blend is a bit of an all round crowd pleaser myself.
