After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

I'm new here...

  • Hi all, just joined. My machine is on the second floor of my shed. I will post a pic when I work out how.
  • Hi Fred and welcome!  Your shed has a second floor??  You'd better work out the picture thing because I'm intrigued and a fair bit jealous. Welcome mate!!
  • G'day and welcome Fred :) K Bean - Coffee Machines Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  • [img][/img] I have workshop on ground floor and man cave second floor, where I fix computers and do some video / photography.

  • Hey everyone, I'm new here :) and here is my first post. Started with a Silvia and rocky Got rid of the rocky and moved to a super jolly, I move on to heavily modify the Silvia with every gadget and contraption I could. In the end I couldn't do the things I wanted with it so I moved on to my next and current machine. The GS3 is lovely but i needed it modified to have the Strada gauge pretty much immediately. I also run a compak e8od. I hated the compak for a long time compared with the SJ but have now grown to love it. d0431c6bf7e14d494f4a764a74b061b9.jpg4c27eb40397d51ac68dbf9236fc0e473.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  • oh thats a nice set up - must be fun to play with! can you pressure profile with the paddle or is it more about controlled pre-infusion ? Pat

Welcome CA :) Nice gear. Did you do those Silvia mods yourself? That reminds me of a heavily modded Silvia I saw several years back. Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul, Yep I did it all myself, including the internal changes.  I actually think we might have chatted about this on another forum a few years back as you mentioned. The Silvia was a great learning experience plus I enjoy tinkering. Stef Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  • Nice work Stef. Re Silvia tinkering, I only got as far as a slightly dodgy side mounted PID before I moved to an HX. Still, I also enjoyed the tinkering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  • Hi Stef, welcome; must say that GS3 is a beautiful-looking machine!

Hi Pat, Yep certainly fun to play with and yes you can pressure profile with it. I have full control from 0-9 bar and anywhere in between. It's not necessarily repeatable shot to shot because you are doing it manually but for non commercial use it's great. Generally though mostly I use it for long preinfusions of 30s or so. The modification is just replacing the parts on the group head with parts from the Strada MP - it's an expensive exercise but worth it for my use.  b079013f65be87df688bcdeb22079283.jpg 8e11668aed738b8a64d85dcc8dcecc57.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  • Wowee!!!  That's some pretty bling. I was looking at one of these a couple of years ago but after a play went in a different direction. lovely machine!
  • The place I go to have panels CNC cut for various projects like audio speakers has a La Marzocco GS3 in the workshop office I often gave them a gift of my home roasted beans for doing a good job  :thumb: KK
  • Wow.. some epic posts. Coffee roasting for me keeps me sane.. I'm in a fairly high profile corporate gig working for the man. My home coffee business keeps me mentally sane.. working for me. I roast down the coast of Victoria in barwon heads.. I swear the sea air makes the roasts taste better.
  • Nice one Marc, and welcome to the forum! what are you roasting on? Pat

Absolutely -  Nice fresh change from the corporate day-to-day. Motivation behind K Bean is to eventually escape the 9-5 :)

  • Hi all, first post to this forum, I only just came across it after a recommendation from another member. :-) I use a Sylvia with a Mazzer Kony E grinder and roast with an old Behmor 1600 which I would like to upgrade to a decent 1 or 2kg more commercial like roaster one day. Cheers, Shewey
