After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Photos from anywhere and everywhere.

  • Just going through some old photos and found these. On holidays up the coast - dogs zonked and happy
  • And this storm front
  • the new entry level brand my franchisor just introduced. trailer photographed without wheels as it was the only way they could get it through the doors.

I drive a diesel and mainly town driving so not a huge impact whatever I drag behind but yes, that is a large 750kg yellow brick. For people in windy areas it might get a tad frisky. especially with that nice lip at the top.  At least most of the weight is at the bottom (150litre water tank is under floor).
  • Doin' it tough. Came home today and found youngest hound out to it. :D Didn't have the heart to wake her, even if it was my spot.
  • Unlike the couch potato above the Dog and I have just got in from a 6-7 km walk to town and home via the swamp land. 16-17 year old on the top of the Rocky outcrop surveying his territories  :) Should mention current position of the dog is couch potato  :D [attachimg=1]
  • In top nick for a old boy BF  :thumb:
  • Stripping an area of elcheapo pavers to do something better. Beats the hell out of sitting on a computer inside when the day is so nice outside.
  • Three of the many ladies of the home....afraid the boys are outnumbered.
  • For all you Brisbarians here, something completely different !  A view down to the cottage last week just as it was getting started in earnest...
  • Gold. Its a Lab fest - quick, hide the food.
  • The numero uno lady of the house Georgia............... :)

  • Bhuna Spice blend sorry your not getting the Aroma :) [attachimg=1]
  • hi guys - not sure myself [ok it's Saturday...] whether this is the right thread, but if you do nothing else today, make sure you take a look at this photo: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/shortorder/2012/09/real_housewives_of_miamis_elsa.php I actually thought it was a 'piss-take' but am not so sure... A 8)
  • Thought I'd whack a few work pics up. This is going to be a massive batten screen. Architect designed and a massive ego boost for the designer. Not particularly well designed either. The cool posts will be not be visible in the end. I reckon infill panels between the post would have looked much better but who am I to argue. So far we have formed up and poured the concrete plinth and we finished all the steel erection today. The timber mill stuffed up the order so no timber for a few more days.
  • Pyros on the farm  >:D
  • A few new pics of the job I'm on
  • That screen looks amazing DX!  How are you joining those 1800?? battens?
  • Each " panel " is separate. The battens are fixed to the horizontal rails and the 2 nd panel battens just sit on top of the bottom row - until everything shrinks that is and then there will be about a 8 mm gap between panels. Its F14 Green hardwood and its going to move like a bitch, but architects are brilliant and I'm sure they know best. 1200 between fixings with no mid span fixing   :pan :pan

1200  :pan  I spose looking at a photo the 1300 casement windows are no guide to guestimate because of the perspective... well... no guide to a dummy like me  NO MID SPAN FIXINGS??? There will be... in about oh, eight months (Summer then Autumn) and in Winter there you'll be with scaff and cleats charging double-time I hope.  It's pretty, but conventional but once that beautiful hardwood bows it's gunna look shocking.  What's the logical fix Mr Builder please (without running an all too sensible horizontal batten down the middle of the join to fix the joins)?
  • Thats the fix in a nutshell Brett. Run another horizontal batten mid span and screw fix from behind so the fixings are not seen. It wouldn't have to be big either. 50 x 25 ( same size as the battens) would be plenty
  • A few more progress pics of the taj ma batten screen. The architect dropped over the other day. It is quite intentional to have no mid span fixings. They ( architect and owner) want it to go all manky  I think they shall get their wish  :D
  • Finally finished it today.
  • Mate, your work is second to none!  I just have one question for you... why?
  • Well Brett, I like to do things once and do them.....oh, why the batten screen ? The batten screen does face west as my sunburnt calves will confirm. The screen will be very effective in summer, even more so as the owner told me yesterday that there will be gardens in front of it and vines will grow all over the screen. Mega vertical garden, which is fucken awesome. As for the scale and design, well what can I say, architects love that shit. The lines of form and function get blurred pretty easily with architects when given free reign  :D Good job to stick in the resume though  :thumb:
  • Ah ha, that will look amazing and if it cools the building then it will be doubly fantastic.  Yep, there is no debug that this will be good for your business.  It is eye catching and will get people talking/imagining!
  • Took the step of retiring from the restaurant industry and entered a new career of which i am passionate about, making great coffee and sharing with customers a few friendly words,a cuppa and perhaps a shoulder to cry on. It's been a subdued start, but i prefer to start that way and earn my customers rather than starting with a lot of fanfare and hype and then losing clients over time due to a very average product and inconsistency. For anyone who wants to pursue their dreams, i say go for it, you only have one life, live it now! ( mobile coffee van circa 2014 still on track...)
